Penang Date Nights: Best Couple-Friendly Eating Spots

Really? Are you going to choose eating spots in food heaven? I hear you. That is exactly why I decided to give out my personal favourite eateries. I rate these restaurants based on the vibe, environment and of course, tasty food. My partner and I have been to many restaurants in Penang that I can't wait to share with you. So let's dive in!

Pedals & Rolls

I am not really a car enthusiast. But if you or your partner are into cars, this is the perfect place for you. This cafe is in the middle of Georgetown. With literal cars inside the café as part of the decor, the vibe was instantly attention-grabbing and stylish enough to make you want to dress up a little for a date. Now, let's talk about the main character here. The food was amazing. I know we are not judging them for the MasterChef show. But it is worth mentioning that starting from the plating, presentation and taste of everything were perfect. I would suggest trying their Aglio Olio Pasta.

A special mention for Arcade racing Machines. I love racing games, and it was so cool just to visit a cafe, order your food and head to play a game. There were a bunch of different types of Hot Wheels cars in the display. My partner never moved his eyes from the cars for a few minutes. The whole idea was so refreshing.

Pedals & Rolls is totally worth visiting for a unique vibe. How about a perfect outdoor date?

Ferrihingi Heart Beach Club

This place is perfect for an outdoor date. Now, where do I start with this? The breezy Batu Ferrhinghi Beach air, great food and lively environment with low lights and amazing food. Ferrhingi Heart delivers a perfect date night. Luckily, my partner and I were there during the fireworks performances. With some good music, drinks and performances, it was such a lively night with my partner. This place is known for having nightly events. It is best to check their social handles beforehand for their schedule. We were there for a chill night. So after having our meals, we went for a slow walk along the beach. The waves at night sounded so romantic, especially when walking side by side with my partner. I saw some people dancing in that place, which gave a lively vibe.

If you are saying, “Nah! I am not into crowds and loud music”. Then my next suggestion is for you.

Vegeteh

If I could describe this place in one word, it would be serenity. It is a perfect place to visit if you are up for some good food and conversation in a calm place. The staff were friendly and of course the food was amazing. It is a vegetarian-friendly place with plenty of authentic options such as Vege Nasi Lemak. It does not compromise when it comes to taste. You do not have to be a vegetarian to visit this place. You can choose between an air-conditioned space or an open-air section, depending on your mood.

Penang truly is food heaven, but what makes these spots special is how they create memories beyond just eating. Whether it’s racing your partner on an arcade machine, watching fireworks by the beach, or sharing a quiet plate of veggie satay, each place brings a little something unique to a couple’s date night. If you’re planning a foodie date in Penang, these are definitely worth adding to your list. After all, the best meals aren’t just about the food. They’re about who you share them with.

Let me brainwash you into watching sitcoms

“I declare bankcruptcyyyy”  If you read that in Michael Scott's voice, then you are one of us, a sitcom lover. I started watching Sitcoms when I was in University. A Friends scene popped up on my YouTube recommendations. Ironically, I watched the finale first. But it was so funny and oddly comforting that I went back and binged all the seasons. Since then, I’ve fallen deep into the sitcom rabbit holes.  There is something about watching sitcoms which creates a safe and calm feeling. It will give you an instant feeling like you are included in something warm and pleasant. I believe this is the reason for people to rewatch the same sitcoms many times. Let me give you a few more reasons why you should start watching sitcoms. They are relatable I believe everyone has the urge to feel included, and sitcoms are best at doing it. Remember when Monica asked, “Do you have a plan?” and Phoebe responded with, “I don’t even have a pla ...”? It was hilarious and validating. It remin...

Tengah healing ke tu? A needed escape to Gunung Jerai

Sometimes all we need is a different perspective.  We often get caught up in routines and forget why we push ourselves so hard. At the core, it’s to live the life we dream of. And that takes effort, discipline, and sometimes, a bit of healing. I recently took a long-planned, but impromptu trip to Jerai Hill (Gunung Jerai), which allowed me to relax and stay mindful in the present moment.  To be very honest, I just wanted to escape from the scorching hot weather recently. Malaysia is filled with famous hill stations, and Gunung Jerai is an underrated one. Let me just walk you through everything I loved about Gunung Jerai.  Buckle up! (No, really) Like any hill destination, you need to drive through the beautiful greenery, which makes you think about what else is beautiful you haven't witnessed yet in life. The roads are well-maintained, and there are clear horn signs along the way. It’s a drive that asks you to be both careful and present, watching the road while soaking i...
