The art of taking care of your mind

I  am sure you have dreams, hopes and plans for your life. Even if you are someone who goes with a flow, I am sure you have envisioned a certain kind of life for you. What if I say you are going to live the life that you want one way or another? No, I am not a psychic! Just a fellow dreamer like you. And what if I say it all starts with your mind?  They say the human mind is a powerful tool. So how do you take care of such a powerful mind as much as you take your body?  What you seek is seeking you! It is scientifically proven that you can change your mindset with constant actions and affirmations every day. Your mind becomes what it is trained for. What you read, talk and watch highly influences the well-being of your mind. Hence, the fearful feeling you get after watching a scary movie. The feeling lingers. As an ardent fan of The conjuring series, I would never ask you to not watch horror movies again. My point is, if you want your life to be a certain way, expose your...

After the Wedding Fever: A Maid of Honour’s Take on Weddings

After a week of being the maid of honour in a wedding, it was heartwarming to see your loved one getting married. It was an emotional rollercoaster moment. Seeing them up there with their partner, it's hard to put the happiness into words.  Now that the wedding fever is over, it has gotten me thinking. What is my take on wedding ceremonies?  As someone who has attended many weddings, I would prefer attending one rather than organising one. However, isn't it an absolute pleasure to create a wedding ceremony that is filled with everything the bride and groom want? After all, it is their wedding. The colour-coded bridesmaid dresses, surprise dances, emotional vows and the surprise performances. It has everything! However, there are some unavoidable low moments in planning the wedding! Relatives! The quirky bunch of people who show up with unnecessary questions. Though they are just part of the ceremony, they could test your patience a lot. So be smart when creating the guest list...

10,000 Steps a Day: My Honest Experience After Nearly Two Years

I will not get medical advice from social media. It's just not reliable and creates unnecessary anxiety over health. However, the one thing that kept popping up on my feed was people talking about walking 10,000 steps. There were many testimonial videos showing people obtaining numerous benefits from this. Yet, you cannot believe everything you see online. So I decided to do it myself!  Nearly two years ago, I started walking 10k steps. The journey was inconsistently consistent. Not every day do I get those steps. Even then, I could sense some changes in me, which I am sharing with you here. Let's dive in! How I felt.. I felt energetic Now, if you are at a starting point, you might feel quite the opposite. When I first wanted to reach 10k steps, I felt lethargic, and it was too much. I felt tired afterwards, so I could not do any other work. This only lasted for a week. As I continue to show up, 10k steps start to feel easier, and I have developed a sense of accomplishment f...

Four Signs You’re Actually Doing Better Than You Think

When we live in a world where everything is constantly changing, the only constant is you. One major lesson I have learned in this precious life is that nobody can take care of you better than you can. If you are one of those people who are in the middle of a huge self-transformation, I am here to give you more signs that you are doing great.  You’ve Stopped Fighting Life and Started Leading It For a long time, I did not understand the reason for the triggers and negative emotions that arose within me. It is not wrong to feel them; in fact, it is good to channel them in the right way. But hours of overthinking and simply dwelling on those emotions were paralysing my mind and preventing me from reaching my full potential. So how do I control all this to live a specific life that I want? You don’t. Merely accepting certain things in life that are uncontrollable will save you from many mental breakdowns. Meanwhile, your routines, mindset, and how you perceive life are things you can c...

When Did Wedding Planning Become a Full-Time Job?

I have seen some loveliest couples turning on each other when it comes to wedding planning. Marriage is about two people promise to each other to stay together no matter what the circumstances are. And the wedding is a mere celebration of two people coming together. At least how it used to be? When I asked my parents and some people who got married about 30, 40 years ago, the wedding was grand and huge, but the wedding planning was not as bothersome as nowadays. So what's the shift now? Let's get into it! Comformity was normal in those days If you ask your parents about their wedding day. They will tell you a similar story to other couples who got married at the time, probably with a few tweaks here and there. They might answer as “nothing much”. Even their wedding photographs will look alike. We all have that one studio picture of our parents on their wedding day. So conformity was normalised as long as they could fit into the society's norms. However, couples nowadays wan...

Let's Talk Fashion -Timeless Trends I Hope Never Fade

Fashion! One way or another, you will be involved in fashion even without your realisation. You are going out. What type of purse or wallet do you want to use? What type of jeans is your go-to? You choose comfort or style? Fashion is simply fun. I love fashion because it allows you to express yourself and gives you a sense of self-identity.    Fashion changes through every decade. Some fashions are recyclable, some are inventive. Accessories, clothing, hairstyles, and cosmetics, there are plenty of fashion trends that exist throughout the decades. And I will never tire of learning about them. In this blog, I will be sharing some of my favourite fashion trends that I don't want to fade or forever exist.  Layered mid-length hair/ iconic long curls View this post on Instagram A post shared by E! News (@enews) I was contemplating choosing between these two. I am too in love with both of these hairstyles; I cannot pick one. The layered haircut became popula...

Penang Date Nights: Best Couple-Friendly Eating Spots

Really? Are you going to choose eating spots in food heaven? I hear you. That is exactly why I decided to give out my personal favourite eateries. I rate these restaurants based on the vibe, environment and of course, tasty food. My partner and I have been to many restaurants in Penang that I can't wait to share with you. So let's dive in! Pedals & Rolls I am not really a car enthusiast. But if you or your partner are into cars, this is the perfect place for you. This cafe is in the middle of Georgetown. With literal cars inside the café as part of the decor, the vibe was instantly attention-grabbing and stylish enough to make you want to dress up a little for a date. Now, let's talk about the main character here. The food was amazing. I know we are not judging them for the MasterChef show. But it is worth mentioning that starting from the plating, presentation and taste of everything were perfect. I would suggest trying their Aglio Olio Pasta.  A special mention for Ar...
