Let's Talk Fashion -Timeless Trends I Hope Never Fade

Fashion! One way or another, you will be involved in fashion even without your realisation. You are going out. What type of purse or wallet do you want to use? What type of jeans is your go-to? You choose comfort or style? Fashion is simply fun. I love fashion because it allows you to express yourself and gives you a sense of self-identity.

Fashion changes through every decade. Some fashions are recyclable, some are inventive. Accessories, clothing, hairstyles, and cosmetics, there are plenty of fashion trends that exist throughout the decades. And I will never tire of learning about them. In this blog, I will be sharing some of my favourite fashion trends that I don't want to fade or forever exist.

Layered mid-length hair/ iconic long curls

I was contemplating choosing between these two. I am too in love with both of these hairstyles; I cannot pick one. The layered haircut became popular in the 90s. It was also called Rachel cut popularly. It was named after Jennifer Aniston’s iconic haircut in The Friends series. However, the layered haircut goes way back to the 70s’s when it was known as Farah Fawcett's Feathered haircut.

If you can look around layered haircut still exists in style. Many people even prefer to have this hairstyle. It is something about having perfect layers, and it just bounces when you walk around. It gives a sense of confidence. Not to mention the perfect bangs/fringe that goes perfectly with the layered haircut.

As a fellow curly-haired girly, I look for curly hair representation in media. Curly-haired girls know what it means to be high maintenance because their hair is. There was not much styling needed for curly hair (except for the 8 steps that caused arm pain). The voluminous curls are timeless and will remain in style forever.

Mom jeans

As much as I love the low-rise jeans (Imagining Britney Spears in the early 2000s), Mom jeans have a special place in my heart and my tummy. It just perfectly fits for casual wear, and when you style it can be smart casual too. It is perfect if you are going for comfort on that day. You can simply wear it when you have a long day. It fits in the right places, which gives you a nice silhouette of your body. It is also super versatile. Mom jeans with a fitted white T or a halter top with some accessories would look chic. The fit will speak for itself.

Eyebrows

When it comes to certain fashion, we want it to evolve so badly. Some of us want to stick with it. We do not care if it is in today’s trend. As such, I'm somewhat stuck with my 2010s-style carved sculpted eyebrows. It is something about very neat-looking eyebrows with a small arch. It is an art. I will always visit that one particular beauty salon so that I can get my eyebrows done in the same way. However,  I love to notice other eyebrows and how they match their faces. Bush, bleached and even no eyebrows. It is fun to experiment with fashions.

At the end of the day, fashion truly is fluid. It moves, changes, and evolves with time, just like we do. What I love about fashion is that you are not compelled to follow the trends and continue expressing yourself through fashion.

Let me brainwash you into watching sitcoms

“I declare bankcruptcyyyy”  If you read that in Michael Scott's voice, then you are one of us, a sitcom lover. I started watching Sitcoms when I was in University. A Friends scene popped up on my YouTube recommendations. Ironically, I watched the finale first. But it was so funny and oddly comforting that I went back and binged all the seasons. Since then, I’ve fallen deep into the sitcom rabbit holes.  There is something about watching sitcoms which creates a safe and calm feeling. It will give you an instant feeling like you are included in something warm and pleasant. I believe this is the reason for people to rewatch the same sitcoms many times. Let me give you a few more reasons why you should start watching sitcoms. They are relatable I believe everyone has the urge to feel included, and sitcoms are best at doing it. Remember when Monica asked, “Do you have a plan?” and Phoebe responded with, “I don’t even have a pla ...”? It was hilarious and validating. It remin...

Tengah healing ke tu? A needed escape to Gunung Jerai

Sometimes all we need is a different perspective.  We often get caught up in routines and forget why we push ourselves so hard. At the core, it’s to live the life we dream of. And that takes effort, discipline, and sometimes, a bit of healing. I recently took a long-planned, but impromptu trip to Jerai Hill (Gunung Jerai), which allowed me to relax and stay mindful in the present moment.  To be very honest, I just wanted to escape from the scorching hot weather recently. Malaysia is filled with famous hill stations, and Gunung Jerai is an underrated one. Let me just walk you through everything I loved about Gunung Jerai.  Buckle up! (No, really) Like any hill destination, you need to drive through the beautiful greenery, which makes you think about what else is beautiful you haven't witnessed yet in life. The roads are well-maintained, and there are clear horn signs along the way. It’s a drive that asks you to be both careful and present, watching the road while soaking i...
